Home Resources Children & Youth PLAY Alberta
Responding to the growing need across Canada for Physical Literacy, the Alberta Recreation & Parks Association (ARPA) created Physical Literacy and You (P.L.A.Y.) Alberta to support, engage and connect Alberta communities in their efforts to use Physical Literacy as a resource for health and community development.
The Sport for Life Society, Coaching Association of Canada, and HIGH FIVE® have come together to support recreation leaders, coaches, and instructors in becoming recognized Physical Literacy Instructors through a blended eLearning and in-person training experience.
This comprehensive training program is focused on how to design, develop, and deliver physical literacy-focused recreation and sport programs across the lifespan.
Benefits of the Physical Literacy Instructor Program:
Physical Literacy Instructor Program Courses:
The PLIP program has four training modules that combine text based information, video, interactive elements as well as in-person or virtual workshops for the learner to acquire the knowledge and understanding to develop physical literacy:
Please note: modules are listed in order of pre-requirement.
Once Physical Literacy Instructor candidates show proof of all course completions as uploaded in the NCCP “The Locker”, successful participants will receive a non-expiring Physical Literacy Instructor certificate (downloadable/printable).
