The Town of Slave Lake is looking for enthusiastic individuals to be our Summer Splash Counsellors for the upcoming 2023 Summer Splash program.
The Summer Splash Counsellor will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the “Summer Splash” program for children ages 6-11 years of age.
EMPLOYEES THAT REPORT DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION:
None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•To program and implement activities for the weekly sessions with the Summer Splash Coordinator
•To supervise children in the program
•Provide leadership to program participants.
•Use a pleasant, helpful manner and sound judgement when dealing with the parents/guardians or the public.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
•Possession of Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset.
•Previous experience working with youth.
•National Lifeguard Service or Water Safety Instructor would be considered an asset.
•Previous customer service experience is an asset.
•Current certification in First Aid and CPR is an asset
SKILLS REQUIRED:
•Strong customer service skills.
•Strong verbal and written communication
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
•Occasional moderate lifting of equipment and supplies
•Work indoors most of the time. They may occasionally work outdoors when leading activities.
•Are often exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable, such as music.
•May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, and evenings.
