The City of Beaumont is looking for two (2) motivated and enthusiastic Summer Programs Assistants to join our Summer Team. This role will work with the team to create an exciting summer camp experience for children ages 6-13 years.
What YOU’RE Responsible for:
• Assist with planning, preparing, and implementing full day summer camps
• Preparing for and implementing drop-in park programs
• Provide leadership to summer programs staff
• Assist with delivering required staff safety training and orientation components
• Ensure safety of camp participants
• Use Intelligenz (registration software) for class list preparation
• Ensure that the Summer Programs demonstrates a positive representation of the City of Beaumont
• Communication with parents/guardians of campers
• Provide updates and final report to Summer Programs Coordinator
• Assist with other Recreation events and programming
• Ensure adherence to Legislative regulations, Safety Directives and procedures and all respectful workplace standards
• Report unsafe conditions and near miss incidents promptly
• Other duties as assigned
What YOU Bring:
• Preference will be given to students currently attending or finishing post-secondary education in Recreation, Education, Child-Care or a related field
• Previous experience in camp settings for children 6-13 years old
• Highly energetic, enthusiastic and creative
• Skilled in customer service, conflict resolution and problem-solving
• Ability to build and maintain positive relations with staff, parents, and children
• Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to acquire at own cost)
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention
• Equivalencies may be considered
What WE Offer:
• An hourly rate $18.76
• Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre
• 35-40 hour/week, for 10 weeks (June 17 – August 23, 2024)
