The Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) is a provincial not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering healthy citizens, communities and environments and advancing the growth and development of the recreation and parks sector in Alberta. We provide information, advocacy, programs, services and professional development to our members, partners and communities.
As a key member of the ARPA team, the Special Projects Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the following assigned program areas:
Elders Knowledge Circle (40%) provide support for the contract ARPA has to assist a group of multi- nation Elders in the Treaty 7 area as they create their own non-profit. Duties would include: assisting the contractor with both in person and virtual meetings; acting as a Helper to the Elders as required; working with the contractor on general administrative and experiential tasks as needed.
Elders Camp (40%) acting as a Helper at the annual Elders Camp help held from August 21-25. Duties to include: general administrative help as leading up to the camp, attending planning meetings, helping set up the site, assisting with camp-related and cultural responsibilities while at the camp; working as a Helper to the Elders.
General (20%) assisting with general tasks required by ARPA as needed.
The above allotments of time can vary from week to week based on the needs of each of the project areas outlined. This position will work with various ARPA staff on different projects.
