The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a Park and Facility Planning Specialist.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks Planning & Stewardship, this position will be responsible for completion of specific park and recreation facility planning activities.
The key responsibilities will include:
• Project Management for Community Amenities which includes operational and technical studies and working closely with other civic departments on implementation of plans.
• Leading the development of park, outdoor amenities, and facility strategies (e.g., Lighting, Dogs, Signage)
• Providing recommendations regarding parks and recreation facility planning for the City and leads conceptual level planning as assigned.
• Supporting the strategic implementation maintenance, and operation of park programs.
• Managing targeted research and benchmarking initiatives.
The person we seek has a strong working knowledge of the municipal environment, has experience with managing both strategic and capital projects and show evidence of collaborative working practices and/or partnerships.
COMPENSATION
$79,053 – $97,296 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s Degree in landscape architecture, recreation administration, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field combined with three (3) years related experience or a two-year Diploma combined with five (5) years of related experience.
• This position requires knowledge in project management, public participation, community development, recreation and parks trends and drivers, strategic planning, research, and mediation.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Training and/or certification in public engagement and/or projecting management is an asset.
• A valid Class 5 Drivers License and a personal vehicle for work use is required.
HOURS OF WORK
This position will work a compressed schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks). There is a requirement to work a flexible schedule, to accommodate occasional evening and weekend meetings or project management activities.
HYBRID REMOTE WORK
This position may be eligible to apply for Hybrid Remote Work after 3 months of satisfactory performance, within the probationary period. Hybrid Remote Work means the majority of worktime (51+%) will be completed in the designated workspace, and the remainder may be worked remotely. Applicants must reside in Alberta or be able to relocate to Alberta.
TERM
This is an 18-month term assignment commencing in April 2024.
