The City of Swift Current, where “Life Makes Sense,” is a dynamic City of approximately 16,500 people and is the major population centre for southwest Saskatchewan. The real strength of our City is our people.

The fifth largest City in Saskatchewan, Swift Current is proud to boast a vibrant downtown business core, two large shopping malls and a variety of other stores and businesses. Located along the Trans Canada Highway between Medicine Hat and Regina, Swift Current’s footprint has 19% green space with an array of parks, golf courses and open spaces.

Home to the Cypress Regional Hospital and other various care centers, Swift Current is a safe community, housing two RCMP Detachments within the City, one for the City and one for the surrounding rural areas. Purpose of the position:
• Develop and implement a business retention, expansion, and attraction plan;
• Develop and implement programs and activities to support tourism;
• Work Closely with industry-supporting organizations;
• Manage projects relative to economic development & tourism;
• Create positive, long-term relationships with local stakeholders; and
• Promote Swift Current events and economic initiatives.

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to economic development, such as business administration, marketing, economics, business management, hospitality, and tourism with 3 years of practical experience;
• A combination of work and experience may be considered;
• Designation as a Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) would be an asset; and
• A strong understanding and experience in budgeting.
