In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $70,667 to $117,771.
Location: Work primarily located at North Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Campus & Community Recreation (CCR), the Manager, Client Engagement is an integral member of the CCR leadership team. The CCR leadership team supports the management of sport and recreation facilities, programs, services and events serving a variety of communities including University of Alberta students, staff, Faculty and general community members. Campus & Community Recreation also supports the facility and service needs of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation and the Varsity Athletics programs through the provision of dedicated sport and recreation space for teaching, research, training and competition.
The Manager, Client Engagement provides leadership, management and supervision to the CCR Client Engagement unit within Support & Recreation Services, Facilities & Operations at the University of Alberta. The Manager actively participates in the development and implementation of the strategic direction of CCR and leads the process to develop strategic operating models in each of the key areas under their supervision. Specifically, the Manager leads a team of approximately 25 full-time and approximately 70 casual staff and contractors in the provision of client-focused services. The Manager will plan and implement a unit strategy for client engagement experiences for the CCR unit. The strategy will include leadership and mentorship of client-focused areas including Bookings/allocation/event facilitation, Recreation Management Software, Customer Service, Outreach and Engagement, Business Development, and Recreation Facility Operations. The Manager will work closely with the Team Leads and Supervisors of each of these areas to ensure client-focused service is provided in an exemplary fashion. Staff development and mentorship in the areas of budgeting, human resource management, strategic planning and policy/procedure development are all key components of this role.
The Manager will oversee policies associated with facility allocation and operation in the Van Vliet Complex, ensuring the spaces are allocated and operated efficiently and delivery is inclusive, equitable and reflects a diversity of interests. CCR facility operations and programs are essential components of an exceptional campus experience as they support the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of participants. In conjunction with the Director, the Manager will develop clear philosophical guides for allocation of and pricing of all CCR operated facilities to support the vision and mission of both Campus & Community Recreation and the University of Alberta.
The Manager will lead Campus & Community Recreation in the area of event attraction and facilitation. The Manager is responsible for liaising with external event coordinators and facilitators such as municipal, national and international organizations to host events at facilities operated by CCR. The Manager will develop relationships and build partnerships with event organizers and promoters in an effort to enhance the use of CCR facilities for high profile events and maintain the reputational profile of the University of Alberta.
