THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to and under the general direction of the Arena Supervisor, this position maintains the ice surface, cleans the building, monitors the pool, and performs preventative maintenance. The role of Facility Operator 2 has the added responsibility of general pool maintenance including water quality testing. This position works a variety of shifts and days, primarily evening and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Working knowledge of pool chemistry, pool operation and general pool maintenance
• Understanding of the demands, service standards and day to day operations of a recreation facility, specifically an arena
• Ability to run ice machine
• Ability to problem solve a variety of issues related to the facility and equipment
• Ability to work a variety of shifts and days
• Ability to deal with the public in a friendly and effective manner
• Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
• Ability to recognize hazards/problems as they arise and report them to the Facility Supervisor/Manager
• Physical ability to undertake the duties required
• Ability to represent the City and the Department in a professional, competent manner
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
• 3 years related experience in a recreation environment, public or commercial building;
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Pool Operator I and II certification
• Arena Operator I and II certification
• Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
• First Aid
Salary and Benefits: $29.13 -$36.41 per hour (dependent upon experience). The City offers a generous benefit package, including health and welfare benefits and 6% vacation to start.
