Reporting to the General Manager, Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC), this position is responsible for providing overall leadership and management to the Planning and Business Services division of the department with a focus on parks planning, business services, strategy and policy development. This division supports functions across the entire department in an effort to align goals and objectives to the strategic direction of the City. This position is responsible for collaborating with the management team in order to lead strategic master planning, parks planning and business planning functions of the department. The Director, PRC Planning and Business Services also oversees the agreement cycle of the department’s 100+ agreements and the leadership of the park planning priorities. This position directly oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of the department’s programs and budgeting, as well as the coordination of Department strategic plans and business plan priorities.
This exciting role requires a professional with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and community groups. The Director, PRC Planning and Business Services is an integral part of a dynamic management team. The successful incumbent will play a significant role in ensuring effectiveness, efficiency and a high level of engagement and commitment to the community we serve. Considerable independent leadership, innovation and judgment are required in managing, planning and organizing the key responsibilities of this role.
In addition to academic accreditation and professional qualifications in the parks, recreation and culture sectors and/or another relevant discipline, you possess a minimum of 5 years of related leadership experience, preferably within a municipal or regional government setting.
