The Town of Crossfield is looking for an energetic, reliable and customer service-focused individual who is committed to making a difference to our community through the operation of one of our busiest recreation facilities.
Reporting to the Director of Community and Protective Services, the Arena Supervisor will be responsible for leading, managing and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Pete Knight Memorial Arena.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
• Oversee operations of the Pete Knight Memorial Arena as it relates to day-to-day maintenance and janitorial functions, preventative maintenance and general repairs, ensuring effective plans and/or programs are in place for each.
• Participate in the operating and capital budgeting process relevant to the Arena operations.
• Oversee year-round scheduling of the Arena, striving to maximize bookings through each season.
• Develop and amend policies and procedures relevant to the Arena operations.
• Recruit staff to ensure adequate coverage of shifts, while monitoring performance and providing regular, constructive feedback.
• Train and mentor staff as required to ensure their safety, promote their growth and development, and ensure efficient operation of the Arena.
• Ensure regular communication with user groups to build strong working relationships.
• Coordinate with contractors for regular and required maintenance on the ice plant and all systems related to the ice plant, ensuring it is operating safely and as designed.
• From time-to-time, assist the Operations and Parks Departments as requested and available.
Required Qualifications:
• Grade 12 education or equivalent (GED)
• 5 + years experience in arena operations with exposure to employee supervision, building maintenance and scheduling activities
• Arena Operator Level 1 and Level 2 certification
• Thorough knowledge of ice making and maintenance procedures, as well as other relevant legislation, policies and procedures related to arena operations
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Operators License with clear driver’s abstract
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment, hand tools and power tools
• Ability to work with the public in a courteous and professional manner
• Self-motivated and independent, comfortable working with minimal direction and as part of a team
• Ability to effectively organize work and establish priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Duration: This is a permanent full-time position working 5 days per week (40 hours) with some evening and weekend work required from time-to-time.
