Free Webinar | Honouring MMIWG2S+ Through Recreation and Parks

May 27 @ 12:30 pm 1:30 pm

The Alberta Recreation & Parks Association (ARPA) in partnership with the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta (ISCA), invites you to a powerful and timely webinar exploring the connection between the MMIWG2S+ movement and the role of recreation and parks in advancing truth, reconciliation, and justice.

Learn as Taylor McPherson highlights how sport, recreation, and traditional land-based practices can serve as powerful tools for empowerment, safety, and cultural revitalization while combatting the ongoing impacts of colonial violence and systemic barriers faced by Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit+ people.

Following Taylor’s presentation, ARPA will introduce their new resource: Recreation, Parks, and Justice: Advocating for MMIWG2S+ in Alberta. This practical guide is designed to support recreation and parks professionals in responding to the MMIWG2S+ Calls for Justice through inclusive, equity-based practices. Attendees will gain insight into how they can use the resource to take action within their own communities and organizations.
