About CPRA
ARPA is a member of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA). CPRA is a national organization dedicated to realizing the full potential of parks and recreation as a major contributor to community health and vibrancy. Membership includes the 13 provincial and territorial parks and recreation associations and their extensive networks of service providers in over 90% of Canadian communities.
Through our membership with CPRA we are able to ensure Alberta’s recreation and parks sector is represented and included in national discussions, initiatives and policy decisions.

Can Active Insights
CAN Active Insights is a national data platform that helps leaders in the sport, physical activity, recreation, and parks sector make confident, evidence-based planning decisions.
Developed through a national partnership between Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute (CFLRI), the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA), and the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC), the platform brings together data on facilities, participation, movement, community needs, and economic impact into one easy-to-use system.

Data In Action: How CAN Active InsightsWill Transform the Future of Recreation in Alberta
Alberta is home to more than 330 municipalities, ranging from large urban centres to small rural, northern communities, each with its own recreation priorities and challenges. While some municipalities have dedicated planning and research staff, many smaller communities operate with limited capacity, making it difficult to gather and interpret data. CAN Active Insights helps bridge this gap by providing accessible, evidence-based information that can support recreation plans, facility development, grant applications and long-term planning.
