The Job
We are looking for a highly organized and motivated leader to fill the position of Recreation Manager at the Edson & District Leisure Centre. This role offers a wide range of responsibilities as you will be performing a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation of the facility. This includes everything from directing and supervising the daily activities of the facility and staff to developing budgets and ensuring timely maintenance of the building. This role involves ensuring the continuous operation of the facility through the implementation of effective management strategies and Community Development principles to meet the needs of our user groups, stakeholders, and the public. Collaboration with the Community Development Team on local recreational events and programs is essential. Responsibilities also include overseeing preventative maintenance and repair work related to ice plant and pool systems and the development of policies and procedures aimed at promoting utilization, safety, cleanliness, and enjoyment for both staff and facility users.
The Candidate
We’re looking for an ideal candidate who demonstrates strong leadership, adaptability, creativity, advanced organizational skills, expertise in municipal facility management, and proficiency in planning and budgeting. In this position, you will work closely with the management team, provide guidance and assistance to staff members, and ensure compliance with our established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. You’ll also play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and promoting our organizational values of Communication, Creativity, Kindness, Respect, and Teamwork.
In addition to the above, we require applicants to possess:
• Preferred post-secondary degree in Recreation Administration or another relevant discipline.
• 5 years’ management experience and 5 years’ experience operating similar facilities (may be concurrent), preferably in the municipal sector
• RFP Arena Operator Level I and II
• Facility Maintenance Training
• Valid First Aid certificate
• Class 5 driver’s license
The successful applicant will also be required to produce a clear Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector check.

What do we offer?
Compensation
The wage range for this position is $91,500 to $110,500 per year. Candidate placement within the range during the first six months on the job is dependent on experience and available budget.
