EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Manager of Recreation – Permanent Full time (40 hours per week)

Reporting to the CAO this key leadership role will be instrumental in shaping the recreational and community event landscape for the High Prairie service area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Overall management of the Recreation facilities, including the Pool, Arena and Performance Arts Centre
• Leading and managing a dynamic and energetic recreation team
• Assisting with preparing the five-year financial plan, overseeing budgets, and preparing work plans
• Implement the Preventative Maintenance Program for each facility
• Support the Joint Recreation Committee (Town/County) by preparing agenda and reports
• Outreach and marketing to users and other recreation groups
• Provide management direction to staff by planning, assigning and supervising work.
• Ensure the effectiveness of existing programs, services and facilities and modify as needed to meet community needs and to achieve efficiency
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
The Ideal Candidate will:
• Knowledge of strategies to engage the community in recreational programs and a minimum of three years’ managerial experience in a similar environment or five years in a supervisory capacity; preference will be given to candidates with previous municipal experience or minimum of five years’ experiences in a similar environment in a supervisory or managerial capacity
• Ability to communicate positively with the management team, staff, users, committees, and the community
• Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, problem solving, decision making, leadership, and general management skills
• Understanding of trends and innovations in the field of recreation
• Knowledgeable about the operation and maintenance of recreational facilities, including swimming pools, arenas, and civic buildings
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory requirements for each facility type.
• Understanding of the operation and scheduling of civic arenas
• Familiarity with overseeing contract management for recreational Civic Centre operations and recreation service delivery contracts
• Understand community needs and interests related to recreational facilities
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and recreation scheduling software
• Valid Driver’s licence
• A Criminal Record check including Vulnerable Sector
