We are looking for a dynamic, energetic individual who loves to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment to become the Manager at Kinosoo Ridge — a resort offering summer and winter elevated adventures located on the shores of Cold Lake, owned by the Municipal District of Bonnyville (M.D.).
From our 60-foot-tall Aerial Adventure Park and more than 40 acres of skiable terrain to our upgraded and expanded chalet-located restaurant — The Ridge, there are exciting experiences for every age and skill level.
Working with the M.D.’s Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture, the Manager will continue to build unique, bold, and exciting experiences while implementing the resort’s Business and Destination Management Plan and harnessing Council’s plans for the future.
At Kinosoo Ridge you will oversee the year-round operations, including programming and special events, while being supported by a full complement of energized, engaged, and enthusiastic staff.
Salary: $117,663.00 – $142,542.40
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
•Oversee personnel recruitment, training, and performance, with particular emphasis on safety and guest experience/relations.
•Act as a support and mentor for supervisors when addressing operational issues, staff concerns, and guest complaints.
•Provide strong and effective leadership guidance and support to the Assistant Manager and staff, maximizing their full potential for the realization of Councils’ objectives for the resort.
•Direct and motivate all team members to contribute fully to the resort’s success.
•Demonstrate ongoing professional development and improvement for yourself and staff.
Communication & Collaboration
•Establish and continually maintain positive communication and working relationships with colleagues, staff, non-profit organizations, government departments, local businesses, similar resorts, ski industry and resort personnel, stakeholders, and the community.
•Maintain membership with professional associations. Attend conferences, workshops, and meetings to stay current with information and developments that may impact the resort.
•Coordinate and communicate with other municipal departments in the maintenance and operations of the facility.
•Oversee the development, preparation and delivery of reports, program efficiencies, analysis, statistics, and other relevant information.
Financial & Strategy
•Work closely with the department Director and General Manager to execute Council’s strategic plans and initiatives for Kinosoo Ridge.
•Collaborate with the Director to source, identify, and apply for additional funding opportunities.
•Collaborate with the Director to recommend and assist in the development of long-term capital plans to ensure the resort’s efficient operations and its sustainable growth.
•Continually monitor and understand market comparables, current financial positioning targets and strategies.
•Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets while being accountable for financial performance.
•Establishes and monitor compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
Guest Relations
•Stay informed and assist with promotional and special events, school bookings, corporate and group functions, marketing and communications strategies, and other areas to effectively lead and manage staff and ongoing resort operations.
•Foster and enhance Kinosoo’s reputation as a department of the M.D. and a valued member of the community through excellent customer service and community engagement.
•Maintain and promote a positive image to the community and stakeholders through the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
Overall Resort Operations
•Ensure the provision of consistent high-quality service standards in facilities and programs.
•Ensure the grounds and buildings are maintained and aesthetically pleasing year-round.
•Oversee the care and maintenance of the facility’s physical assets and facilities.
•Operate in accordance with all applicable municipal, provincial, and federal statutes.
•Comply, promote, inform, and amend the M.D. bylaws, policies and procedures as required.
•Manage emergencies such as incidents, accidents and breaches of security or policy promptly. Emphasize prevention through training, inspection, and preventive enforcement.
Qualifications:
•Five to ten (5-10) years of related experience operating a year-round ski resort including but not limited to business operations, risk management, Lift Operations, Grooming, Marketing and Customer Service, Food and Beverage, Mountain Bike and Trails, and Hospitality.
•Extensive leadership experience managing projects, contractors, and staff.
•A Degree in business management or a related field is considered an asset.
•Outstanding interpersonal, motivational, and a high level of emotional intelligence skills.
•Excellent leadership abilities in delegating, mentoring, and guiding staff.
•Experience in Municipal Government is an asset.
•Exceptional communications skills in both written and verbal as well as conflict resolution and negotiation.
•Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Suite of programs.
•Strong skills in developing plans, reports, forecasting, and budgets.
•Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
