The City of Dryden, located on Wabigoon Lake, in the heart of Northwestern Ontario, is enveloped by the beauty of tranquil lakes, stunning views, and the boreal forest. Dryden offers the perfect blend of opportunities to raise a family, launch a business or enjoy retirement. The city has grown the conveniences of an urban centre without losing its rural, neighbourly charm.
Dryden is a community in motion, known for its abundant outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and hiking but also for its first-class recreation complex fully equipped with swimming pool and waterslide, therapeutic warm pool, fitness and aerobics rooms, squash, a weight room, cardio-fitness centre and two indoor ice surfaces. There is something for every sports enthusiast in Dryden, waterfront golf course, curling league, beaches, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and numerous recreation parks. The City is now seeking a Manager of Community Services to propel the Departments 5 focus pillars: Administration, Recreation Services & Facilities, Museum and Heritage, Aaron Provincial Park, and My Lift Transportation services.
MANAGER OF COMMUNITY SERVICES
As a member of the Senior Management team, you will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and be responsible for strategic planning, development, and oversight of services including recreation programming and facilities, cultural programming, and other community services provided by the department. This will include managing programming, maintenance, and asset renewal. You will develop and implement corporate policies, procedures, agreements, initiate and maintain strong and effective strategic alliances and partnerships with community groups and will coordinate the annual business plan, and operating and capital budgets. Of equal importance, the Manager will infuse creativity, and contagious energy with staff and patrons alike by convening best in class programs and facility offerings.
In addition to your genuine desire to positively contribute to your community and a passion for recreation, you possess:
• post-secondary education in the likely domains of recreation management, leisure studies, business administration; or a Certified Recreation Facility Professional (CRFP) designation or equivalent.
• several years of work experience in municipal parks and recreation, applied health and/or facilities/property management environments including management/public administration responsibilities.
• ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends during the ice season or special events hosted at municipally owned recreation facilities.
• a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certificate.
