Position Overview: The Head Lifeguard position will provide you with both teamwork and leadership opportunities, as you will work as part of the Aquatics Leadership team to maintain the day-to-day operations and procedures, pool maintenance, programs, and customer service. You will coach, mentor, train new staff, and take a lead in programming implementation and swim instruction. As a role model for both staff and the community, you will have the opportunity to hone and model exceptional customer service skills, helping to make Elevation Place a popular destination for both residents and visitors from around the World! You will have the opportunity to take a leadership role with a talented and energetic team of aquatics professionals to support programs and services that enhance the quality of life for citizens and visitors to our community.
Core Accountabilities:
– Provides swim instruction, aquafit instruction, lifeguarding and Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, First Aid and Leadership Programs to members and guests of Elevation Place
– Assists with on-going evaluation of programs and services, and responds to customer concerns in a timely fashion
– Provides efficient, safe, and effective operation of the Aquatics area including equipment and facility maintenance, and any administrative duties associated with the position
– Understands and practices the legal obligations of the lifeguard in terms of duty and standard of care, liability, and negligence
– Assists with creating and implementing operating procedures based on policies and best practices outlined by the Lifesaving Society’s Public Aquatic Facility Safety Standards and as determined by the Town’s Recreation department
– Assists with the safe and efficient pool operation, completing and maintaining daily records and Pool Chemistry tests and documenting as required
– Attends and leads all mandatory in-service training as required
Education & Qualifications:
– Intermediate First Aid, CPR “C” & AED – required
– National Lifeguard award – required
– Swim for Life Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor certification – required
– Aquatic Fitness or other specialty certification, e.g., Kayak, Swim Coach, or Synchronized Swim Coach is considered – preferred
– Lifesaving Instructor, Lifesaving First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, and Instructor Trainer certifications – preferred
– Aquatic Supervisor Training – asset
– Pool Operator Level I – asset
– High 5 certified (principles of healthy child development) – asset
Experience:
– Minimum of two years’ experience in an aquatics environment including delivery of aquatics programs – required
– Ability to work a variety of shift times and hours including evenings and weekends as required – required
– Ability to lead a team to remain vigilant, act quickly in accident prevention and rescue – required
– Works well in a team environment – required
– Leadership experience in the Aquatics industry – asset
– Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, IntelliLeisure and Dayforce Software – asset
– Experience teaching aquafit and a variety of aquatic fitness classes – asset
Salary & Benefits:
– Pay Range- $29.46 to $32.93 per hour to start. Compensation will be calculated based on the successful candidate’s related work experience and education

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time 40-hour a week position with open availability. Weekends and evenings may be required.
