The Town of Canmore, is currently accepting applications and looking to fill a newly open full-time permanent position as Aquatics Head Lifeguard. We are looking for applicants who are passionate about lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, and wanting to take that next step towards leadership in aquatics!
Position Overview: The Head Lifeguard position will provide you with both teamwork and leadership opportunities, as you will work as part of the Aquatics Leadership team to maintain the day-to-day operations and procedures, pool maintenance, programs, and customer service. You will coach, mentor, train new staff, and take a lead in programming implementation and swim instruction. As a role model for both staff and the community, you will have the opportunity to hone and model exceptional customer service skills, helping to make Elevation Place a popular destination for both residents and visitors from around the World! You will have the opportunity to take a leadership role with a talented and energetic team of aquatics professionals to support programs and services that enhance the quality of life for citizens and visitors to our community.
Attributes: Possession of the following qualifications and experience will help you to be successful in this role:
• Two years related experience in the aquatics industry as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
• Previous Leadership experience in the Aquatics industry is preferred.
• Current certifications; National Lifeguard Award, Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor, Intermediate First Aid, and First Aid Instructor.
• Leadership Instructor or Instructor Trainer Awards, Head Lifeguard Course Certificate, Pool Operator Level 1, Aquatic Fitness or other special certification (i.e. Kayak, Swim Coach, Synchronized swimming), and High 5 certified (principles of healthy child development), are considered a strong asset.
Salary and Benefits: The hiring range for this position is: $29.46 to $32.93. In addition to being a great place to work, the Town of Canmore offers an opportunity for work-life balance, a full benefits package, a Health Spending Account and a generous retirement savings program.
