The Job
Our incredible team at the Town of Edson is looking for a Facilities & Energy Manager to join our community-motivated organization. We are a Town focused on celebrating the local; proud of our pioneering history; supportive of our neighbours and invested in the vibrancy of our recreational and cultural programming.
We recognize that the success of our organization hinges on our dedicated team. Our ideal candidate for this role is a planful leader, skilled in facility and project management. This role is responsible for the maintenance and care of Town owned facilities, the completion, and implementation, of the Municipal Energy Management Plan, and guiding improvements in environmental efficiency.
The Candidate
We are looking for a seasoned facilities management professional. It is critical for the candidate to possess strong organizational skills and proven negotiation strengths. Familiarity with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation, regulations and regulatory agencies is considered an asset.
In addition to the above, we require applicants to possess:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on climate change and/or energy management working with concepts of energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental management systems, greenhouse gas inventory, climate change initiatives or similar would also be desirable.
• Experience with HVAC, lighting, chillers and refrigeration, motors, variable frequency drives, compressed air, building envelope, renewable energy, and process equipment.
• 5 years of experience of experience in mechanical, electrical, chemical, commercial, industrial, energy efficiency, project management (with an energy focus), facility engineering or a related field. Preference will be given to those with experience in energy and demand management.
• Advanced understanding of building maintenance and lifecycle management.
• Skills in financial planning, business analysis, and project management.
• The following credentials are considered an asset(s): Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS) or other similar certification, and a willingness to pursue additional certifications and training.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with an acceptable drivers’ abstract.
• Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle a variety of complex projects/tasks with competing priorities and strict deadlines.
• Established leadership skills and political acumen.
• Ability to work flexible hours, as required.

What do we offer?
Compensation
The wage range for this position is $92,400 to $114,700 per year, however, this is negotiable for the right candidate. Candidate placement within the range during the first six months on the job is dependent on experience and available budget.
