Community Services Assistant
The Town of Vulcan is accepting resumes for the position of a Community Services Assistant. This is a full-time (37.5 hr) permanent position, with a base wage of $25.57 per hour including a comprehensive benefits package. Additional renumeration is available and is based on experience and completion of relevant qualifications. The regular work schedule will be a modified work week, some evening and/or weekend hours may be required from time to time.
Primary duties of the Community Services Assistant will be, but not limited to, assist the Community Services Manager, in Recreation, Tourism and Economic Development.
Under the supervision of the Community Services Manager the Community Services Assistant will:
• Create, edit, and publish social media posts for different Town of Vulcan media platforms and the website. • Assist in creating and executing advertising and marketing plans. • Research funding opportunities including grants; prepare and process application forms. • Plan and help facilitate recreation events in the community. • Assist in Tourism merchandise design, purchase of product and management of inventory. • Assist in marketing initiatives that promote the town, tourism, recreation and economic development. • Coordinate and assist in booking the use of town owned and joint use facilities. • Undertake professional development and networking opportunities to maintain and improve skill set. • Attend to other duties that may be assigned by the Community Services Manager.
Necessary skills and qualifications for this position are:
• Hold a clean valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent • A positive police security clearance (with the Vulnerable Sector Check) • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team • Works in a professional manner and is confident in dealing with the public • Demonstrates sound judgement and diplomacy in dealing with complaints and difficult situations • Strong knowledge of digital media and confident in using programs such as Canva and Adobe Suite • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs
