As the BanffLIFE and Mountain Adventure Program Coordinator you “Take Care of Banff” by coordinating services that encourage participation in accessible community programs. You collaborate with the Town’s social programmers, program contractors, and local volunteers to deliver a range of activities, events, and initiatives that support the well-being of the community. The BanffLIFE programs are for local young adults (18-30yrs) and the Mountain Adventure is for those aged 18+.
This role will require you to:
– work with internal teams in FCSS, Recreation, and in communications to identify and develop programs and appropriate and innovative marketing, advertising campaigns, and materials.;
– lead young adults in initiatives that build strong, respectful social connections and help them experience a sense of belonging as new or seasoned members of the community.
– plan and manage a range of indoor and outdoor events and activities that encourage physically and mentally healthy habits.
– plan, coordinate, and deliver experiential mountain adventure programs with a focus on safety, education, and connection.
– coordinate involvement and agreements for contractors, guides, volunteers, and associated agencies.
– oversee the execution of the Town’s health and safety policy and procedures.
– manage operation expenses, purchases, service contracts, etc.; and
– maintain diligent and accurate tracking, records, and systems that support the delivery and reporting of programs and services.
– coordinate and maintain permits and licenses for Town of Banff guided activities.
Your inherent personal qualities demonstrate your communication effectiveness, and your ability to bring together and engage unique groups, you thrive on the challenge of blending technical and administrative tasks with the interpersonal relationships you foster.
You must have completed a post-secondary diploma, degree, or technical certification in education, recreation, or a related field. This is combined with a minimum of three years’ work experience in leisure, sport or recreation, sociology, and community-based programming. ACMG and Interpretive Guide Association certification is considered an asset. You can demonstrate your proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and with social media platforms. A clear and current driver’s abstract and RCMP criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance is required on hire. A full position description is available on request.
