Under the direction of the Pool Supervisor, the incumbent is a working supervisor who is primarily responsible for program planning and supervision of programs and staff. This includes scheduling, promoting, evaluating, and quality control of all aquatic recreational activities and programs as well as assisting with supervising building maintenance. The work includes instructing programs, guarding, employee training, and providing direction to on-duty staff. There is a requirement for the incumbent to be on-call at designated times and to respond to emergencies after hours. This position works a variety of shifts, evenings and weekends are required as the facility operates seven days a week from 6 am to 11 pm approximately.
QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires that the individual have a Grade 12 diploma and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently and have strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Also, the following awards/certifications are required and must be maintained current while employed:
– CPR-C
– Intermediate First Aid
– Lifesaving Swim Instructor
– Lifesaving Advanced Instructor
– National Lifeguard
– Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certificate
– Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
– NLS Instructor Trainer
– Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
– Valid Driver’s License
The following certifications will be considered an asset:
– Pool Operator Level I Certificate
– CPR Instructor and First Aid/AED Instructor
– Aquafit Certification
The incumbent must have a working knowledge of the following:
– Pool chemistry, both through manual application and/or automated equipment.
– Understanding of filtration systems, HVAC, chlorine systems, and circulation hardware and automation (motors, pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, etc.)
– Government regulations related to the NWT Pool Safety Standards and building codes.
This position has a salary range of $75,447 – $92,545, and a comprehensive benefits package including housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450 a month, a defined benefit pension plan, and relocation assistance. For more information please contact Human Resources at: hr@yellowknife.ca
