We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join and lead our amazing maintenance team in our new Aquatic Centre within the Community Services Department. We are seeking a professional, detail oriented and highly motivated individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Aquatic Centre Maintenance Supervisor. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for the supervision and operation of the Aquatic Center Maintenance Program including performing and coordinating maintenance and repairs at a Journeyman Trades level and supervision of 7 staff. Other areas of responsibility include the Aquatic Centre grounds and may include any other facilities as assigned. The Aquatic Center Maintenance Supervisor will also work with the Facilities Manager in overseeing and coordinating maintenance of the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool building The Aquatic Center Maintenance Supervisor requires the ability to understand and coordinate multiple tasks while participating in the physical aspects of both maintenance and preventive maintenance. The incumbent will ensure health and safety as well as proper procedures and practices are followed while handling any water treatment chemicals such as chlorine and pool chemicals when performing maintenance work. There is a responsibility for the care, maintenance and proper use of machinery, tools and vehicles. This position provides instruction, oversight and quality control checking in liaising with contractors providing work for the City. The work requires the incumbent to be a qualified Journeyman (Red Seal) tradesperson with the preference being as a Millwright or Plumber/Gasfitter and a 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate. Four years of experience as a Tradesperson and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience are essential for this role. This position requires Certified Pool Operators, level 1 & 2 and a valid NWT Class 5 Drivers’ license, or equivalent, is required. Please note: Pool Operator related qualifications can be attained by the right person through courses provided by the City of Yellowknife. The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $91,498 – $110,341 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450, and a defined benefit pension plan.
