Do I need to register in advance?
There is a R.S.V.P link, however, the event is free to attend and open to the general public!
Who is this event intended for?
This event is open to anyone who would like to celebrate Alberta Recreation and Parks Association’s 75th Anniversary! Our current and past members, partners and those who enjoy recreation and parks are welcome to join!
Is parking available?
There is FREE parking available in the parking lot and on the street.. The event is also accessible via Calgary Transit.
Will there be seating available?
There will be seating indoors for the opening remarks and Elder panel. However, we suggest bringing foldable lawn chairs for outdoor seating as benches are limited.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
This event is wheelchair accessible for the indoor portion. There will be activities such as, tipi set up, yard games and round dances taking place in the greenspace beside the Riverbend Community Association venue
What is the format of the event?
The event will consist of opening remarks, an Indigenous Elder panel, outdoor activities, round dancing and an ongoing BBQ.
Will food or drink be provided?
There will be a BBQ provided from 1:30 onwards. This will be handheld bison and bannock burgers and a cookie dessert – these are first come, first serve. There will be gluten-friendly and vegan options available. Please feel free to bring your own food, if you wish.

The event is both indoors and outdoors so dress for the weather!

Can I help set up the tipi?
Absolutely! Join us at 10:00 AM at the Riverbend Community Association venue for a hands-on experiential learning opportunity as we work together to set up the tipi. Please dress comfortably for physical activity and outdoor participation.
