Position Overview

Reporting to the Climbing Gym Supervisor and acting within the vision for Town of Canmore Recreation, the interim Climbing Gym Coordinator primarily schedules, maintains, assigns staff and evaluates contract and community programming with a clear vision for the needs and outcomes at all stages of climbing program experience. The Interim Climbing Gym Coordinator will also lead, develop, train, inspire and support frontline staff in providing a climbing gym that is consistent, clean, safe, serves a diverse climbing market, and is a fun and a sustainable place to work. Additionally, the interim Climbing Gym Coordinator is a leader in Town of Canmore Recreation and can support frontline staff for all recreation departments at Elevation Place.

To ensure a thorough understanding of the climbing gym and support Town of Canmore recreation, some weekend and evening work will be required on a predictable schedule. 


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma with additional post-secondary education in Recreation, Adventure Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field. They also possess 1-3 years of experience with climbing program coordination, development and supervision, ACMG Climbing Instructor level 2 certification, current First Aid/CPR certification, and strong computer and administration skills are required. Proven leadership and supervisory skills, a passion for climbing and the ability to climb and set up to 5.10 routes will help you to be successful in this role.
