SUMMARY:Nutrition Month Story Spotlight Webinar: Land of Dreams Urban Farm & Community
DESCRIPTION:What does it look like when a farm becomes a meeting place between cultures\, generations\, and ways of knowing? In this story-based webinar\, regenerative urban farmer Rod Olson shares the journey behind Land of Dreams: a living farm and cultural space in Calgary where newcomers and Indigenous people grow food\, build relationships\, and heal together on shared land. Guided by Indigenous wisdom and built on the simple idea that you don’t have to be a farmer\, you just have to want to touch the soil and belong\, Rod will walk through the origin\, partnerships\, and honest lessons learned along the way. Whether you’re dreaming of a community farm\, working with the Indigenous community\, newcomers\, or looking for a model where land and people grow together\, this is a story about turning complexity into action. \n\n\n\nAbout the Founder\, Rod Olson: \n\n\n\nRod is the original Urban Farmer in Calgary\, is a founding farmer member of the YYC Growers Cooperative and mentors new farmers at the Land of Dreams community farm\, a project that combines welcoming newcomers\, building relationships with our Indigenous community and together regenerating a former construction site to increase biodiversity and grow culturally relevant food. He is passionate about local food and particularly food grown in healthy soil soil. He comes alive when he talks about the soil and its potential as a compelling\, living system to take us confidently into the future. As a Certified Nutrition farmer he utilizes regenerative practices building his own data on their impact for increasing water-holding capacity\, reversing climate change\, increasing biodiversity\, and increasing the nutrient quality and flavour of our food. He believes in the saying\, ‘we are what we eat’ and when you eat food grown with love that aligns with nature that food will be a source of healing. \n\n\n\n\nRegister for the webinar here!

This year’s Conference & Energize Workshop is more than a celebration; it’s a chance to reflect on the relationships\, learning\, and shared experiences that have shaped ARPA over the decades. \n\n\n\nThroughout our history\, one theme has surfaced again and again from those who have been part of ARPA’s journey: the sense of family that has grown through our work together. For many\, the conference has been more than a professional gathering. It has been a place to reconnect\, share ideas\, support one another\, and feel part of something larger than ourselves. \n\n\n\nThe theme of Legacy in Action is more than a moment of celebration. It is a reminder that legacy is active. It is about the work we have done\, the insights we have gained\, and how we choose to carry that forward together. These efforts have been strengthened by the relationships that connect our members and partners\, creating a community that often feels like family. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis theme invites participants to celebrate our shared history and shape the future\, turning legacy into intentional action that continues ARPA’s mission. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nRegistration is OPEN! \n\n\n\n2026 PricingRegular RatesSingle Day RatesMembers$1095$525Non members$1295$650Students1$595$295\n\n\n\nNote on the Registration Prices\nWe would like to inform you that the conference price for this year’s event has increased due to the all-inclusive conference experience we offer. The conference registration includes 7 meals from Thursday dinner to Saturday dinner\, 44+ session options\, 3 keynote speakers\, an industry trade show\, and several social and networking options. \n\n\n\nWe understand that price increases can be frustrating\, but we believe that the value of this package far outweighs the additional cost.
