The Alberta Recreation & Parks Association

The Alberta Recreation & Parks Association (ARPA) is a provincial not-for-profit organization committed to collaborating with our members and partners to help build healthy citizens, communities and environments.

We believe recreation and parks include everything from play to sport to culture and outdoor pursuits. All are essential to support the social, mental, spiritual and physical well-being of citizens and communities.

We are proud of the impactful work our members continue to do.

Alberta’s recreation and parks community has developed awards and scholarships that honour the leadership of its communities, organizations, volunteers, professionals and the businesses.

Do you know someone or an organization that is making positive change in their community?

Applications for the ARPA Awards & Scholarships are NOW OPEN!

As a free reconciliation-based educational opportunity, this documentary shares the stories of various multi-nation Elders as they explore: 1) the importance of these camps for growing the capacity of Elders, 2) the healing process of connecting to the land, and 3) the power of recreation to lift the human spirit.

The Alberta Recreation & Parks Association would like to acknowledge the First Nations, the Métis, and all of the people across Alberta who share a history and a deep connection with this land. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in the spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
