Toolkits
There is so much you can do to make sure that Everybody gets to play™. The best place to start is to order a Community Mobilization Toolkit.
The toolkit is a culmination of two years of research, pilot testing, focus groups, consultations and data collection from across the country. The toolkit gives you the tools you need to mobilize your community and reduce barriers to recreation for low-income children and youth.
The available tools will help communities to understand the effects of poverty on families and children in their community; build the case for making recreation accessible to low-income families and their children; and find, enlist, and work with community partners to:
-
build the case for accessible recreation.
-
create community awareness
-
evaluate their programs and services
-
establish realistic goals
-
develop joint strategies to improve access
-
establish pilot projects to test their strategies
-
share success stories and lessons with other communities.

Host an Orientation or Workshop
Mobilize your community and remove barriers to recreation for all children. Host a one-day Everybody gets to play™ workshop where you will learn about the community mobilization process, understand how to use the Community Mobilization Toolkit effectively in your community, network with other leaders to share ideas, strategies and success stories, and create a strategy that addresses barriers and improves access to recreation for low-income kids. In the workshop the Everybody gets to play™ trained Ambassador will help you apply the tools in your community - by the end of the day you will have identified the barriers in your community, determined your goals, and have developed a strategy to reach those goals.

This free, two-hour orientation will provide information about the issue of accessibility to recreation for children living in poverty, present an example from each of the seven steps in the community mobilization process, and look at some success stories from other communities.

The following template has been adapted from the CPRA success story template to capture examples of successful Canadian strategies (programs, policies, models, etc.) that engage and enable participation by children and youth living in poverty in recreation activity
