Supporting Students...
Students today are met with significant challenges when preparing to step into the professional world. The pressure of finding a job can be extreme, but stimulating at the same time. That’s why the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association has developed a special program directed towards students interested in recreation and parks.
ARPA offers networking and mentoring opportunities for post-secondary students studying recreation, parks, leisure and tourism.
ARPA works with our members and stakeholders to give students a wide-array of learning and networking opportunities.
What does ARPA do for Student Members?
ARPA connects current and future students interested in the areas of recreation, parks, leisure and tourism with other students, professionals and mentors. ARPA also provides information and resources on careers, and offers networking opportunities and continuing education through an array of events.
Goals of the ARPA Student Program...
- Encourage and develop professional interests of students in the recreation and parks field.
- Encourage nationwide communication among students for studying trends and sharing ideas and concerns.
- Offer a link for coordination and communication among students and all interest areas within ARPA.
- Serve as a link between students, professions, educators and citizens in the recreation and parks field.
- Promote recreation and parks as a profession to high school students.
- Promote the development of strong student organizations in colleges and universities.
- Provide opportunities for organizing projects and programs on the local, provincial and national levels and assist in curriculum evaluation.
Great Opportunities with Students in Mind...
- Our online Career Centre houses a comprehensive listing of career and employment opportunities in recreation and parks from across Alberta, and in some cases beyond).
