The City of St. Albert’s Recreation and Parks Department is seeking to fill a permanent Community Recreation Coordinator position. The position will provide community development support to a number of assigned sport, recreation, service groups and other community organizations within St. Albert. This includes board development, assistance with legal agreements, as well as planning and development of special initiatives, events, and capital development projects that groups may undertake. The Coordinator will provide new information, recreation and leisure trends, and encourage new projects and concepts with the groups.
This position has the responsibility to be aware of corporate and municipal priorities and issues to allow for independent advice and support to the groups, and for national and provincial policy and procedural research in the area of recreation programs, services and facilities. The Community Recreation Coordinator represents the City of St. Albert and consequently is required to provide professional, transparent, and timely communications and information.
This position supports departmental and corporate initiatives such as city wide special event planning and execution, long-term strategic planning projects, recreation and leisure research, and other associated responsibilities. The role is well suited for an individual who can coordinate multiple initiatives and activities in a fast-paced environment. The individual we seek will be an excellent written and verbal communicator who will thrive in an environment that requires public consultation and presentations, report writing and regular communication to the community. The position demands someone who is organized, adaptable, and diplomatic, with solid decision making and problem-solving abilities.
- An undergraduate degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education or a directly related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in community recreation development, organizational development, facility project/process management, and financial management concepts and techniques.
- A proven record of establishing and maintaining relationships with community groups and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required. Prior use of a facility scheduling software, such as CLASS, is an asset.
- A Class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle are required for this role.
HOURS OF WORK
You will work a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks). This position will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate meetings or events.
$72,793 - $88,563 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
