Careers in Recreation & Parks

The recreation and parks sector is broad and diverse, providing a host of opportunities and pathways for those who believe that recreation is an investment for life, want to make a difference in communities and the personal lives of individuals.
From early stepping stones as a programmer or coordinator, to later years when a combination of education and experience have opened the door to advancements into senior leadership roles, the recreation and parks sector offers many exciting, challenging, and rewarding career opportunities.
The Alberta Recreation and Parks Association supports its members' professional development in the recreation and parks sector through:
- A variety of educational conferences, symposia, forums, and training events.
- A Continuous Professional Learning System (CLPS).
- Identifying and validating a list of core vocational competencies for recreation and parks practitioners.
- A job board of current career opportunities in Alberta's recreation and park sector.
